Don Bosco in Fundraising Day for priests’ house

MASVINGO – All roads lead to Don Bosco Primary School in Mucheke, Masvingo on Sunday 21 April, 2024,
where there will be an array of entertainment activities as Catholics gather to raise US$20 000 for the completion of a priests’ house.
More than 3 000 people are expected for the event according to Abbey Mazara who is the spokesperson for the fund-raising raising committee.
Companies are welcome to showcase at the event.
The church is appealing for donations in cash or in kind including cement, bricks, tiles, roofing material among other things.
Main entertainment activities include mock ordination of priests, sisters, mbuya Anna, Pope, Nuncio, motor cade and bidding. There will also be soccer matches, swimming and entertainment from drum majorettes. Food will also be sold at the function.
Raffle tickets which can be obtained immediately are going for US$5 and there is a galore of prizes to be won.
The 16-roomed house for priests is at beam level and all construction work before was financed from the parish’s activities.
The events start at 8am and they run late into the afternoon. The Priest-in-charge at Don Bosco is Father Ricky Hungwe.
Mazara said the current priest’s house is dilapidated.
“We are appealing for donations in cash or kind from well-wishers, individuals and organisations. Companies can also utilise the event to market and sell their products and services,” he added.
