SHURUGWI-Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) has donated foodstuffs and building materials to nine families whose houses, grain and livestock were burned down in Shuruwgi North two weeks back.
The donation was handed over on Friday at Mahove Village. The Mirror attended the donation.
FAZ Shurugwi North spokesperson Tinotenda Samakange said they donated in line with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of leaving no one behind.
“We saw it necessary to donate this equipment because we want to fulfil the President’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind,” said Samakange.
The nine families’ houses, livestock and grain were destroyed in a suspected political violence case.
The suspected perpetrators were arrested and remanded in custody as their trial is ongoing.
Zanu PF Shurugwi North constituency candidate Joseph Mupasi denounced political violence.
“This is part of Vision 2030 hence it’s important for us as legislators to ensure that we accomplish it. The fire destroyed properties worth thousands of United States dollars and the families are struggling,” said Mpasi.
One of the recipients of the donations, Tryson Mahobe, told The Mirror that the donations will go a long way in assisting the families.
“I want to thank these people for remembering our plight as we try to pick ourselves up. We are trying to recover from the incident,” said Mahove.
