CHIKOMBA — Chivhu-based award winning female wheelchair racer, Ratidzo Tomu (50) is appealing for assistance to buy a new racing wheelchair.
She told The Mirror in an interview that her current wheelchair is a worn out 1980’s model that constantly breaks down and is no longer suitable for professional racing.
“I am appealing for assistance from well-wishers and corporates to buy a new racing wheelchair. I am using a 1980s model that is worn out. I am also struggling to find its spare parts. The wheelchair costs around 800 Pounds,” she said
She holds several wheelchair racing awards that include 15 national races, gold medalist in a 21km regional race in Botswana, silver in the CBZ 10km wheelchair race held last month, gold medalist at the 2022 international Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge (OCC) 21km marathon in South Africa and 2017 Sports Woman of the year with disability among others.
