Sugarcane farmer Guruvheti dies

MASVINGO – Tongaat Hullet’s inaugural Overall Best Out grower Sugarcane Farmer of The Year and Best Farmer in the Medium Category Rabson Guruvheti died on Saturday.
He died at his doctor’s surgery in Chiredzi Town and will be buried at the family’s shrine in Bikita on Thursday.
His nephew and Bikita businessman Tawona Masadza Tarusarira confirmed the burial arrangement to The Mirror.
“My uncle died on Saturday evening at his doctor’s surgery. He had not been well for some time. He will be buried at the family’s shrine near Bikita Office on Thursday. The body will lie in state in Bikita tomorrow,” he said.
Guruvheti won the coveted award last year after he managed to produce 128 tonnes of sugarcane per hectare in 2022. He also produced 4 198 tonnes of cane. Guruvheti started sugarcane farming as a medium scale farmer in 2011.
