CHIREDZI – Sugar Milling and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe (SMAWUZ) president Nelson Muzamani has appeared in court facing allegations of raping his brother’s daughter.
It is the State case that on July 22, 2023, Muzamani of 7A Makaza Road, Nzimbe location in Triangle asked his brother’s 17-year-old daughter whom he stays with to accompany him to a neighbour’s house where his sister-in-law was doing extra lessons.
Muzamani is employed as a security supervisor.
On the way, Muzamani asked the girl if she had any boyfriend and the latter’s answer was not in the affirmative.
Muzamani allegedly turned vulgar and told the girl that if her boyfriend doesn’t satisfy her in bed she should tell him.
“While we were walking, uncle unzipped his trousers and said look at this, showing her his erect penis. He took me by force, unzipped my trousers and unclothed me down to the knee. He forced me to bent forward and forced himself into me from the back,” said the girl.
The girl later told her cousin (Muzamani’s son) who reported the issue to Muzamani’s wife.
Muzamani refuted the allegations upon being approached by his wife. The complainant later reported the case to her mother who in turn reported the case to Police leading Muzamani’s arrest.
Muzamani was remanded out of custody to April 9. Ronald Kwangwari prosecuted.
