BIKITA – Bikita Rural District Council (RDC)’s ZWL$4, 2 billion budget has been approved.

At least ZWL$2, 3 billion of the total budget will come from revenue collection while ZWL$1, 8 billion will come from grants.

Bikita RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Chibhi confirmed the approval to The Mirror and said expenditure will cover governance and administration, water, sanitation and hygiene, social services, roads and natural resources management.

Some funds will go towards the construction of Duma Secondary School. Nyika Growth Point is rapidly growing hence the need for another secondary school. Other schools that will benefit from the budget include Musiya Primary and Tamuka Secondary schools where new classroom blocks will be constructed.

The expansion of Nyika Growth Point will see infrastructure being built in peri-urban villages Chinobva and Mamvura while a road will be graveled at Nyika Bus Terminus.

Clinics including Dungu, Chivaka, Nerumedzo and Uteke will either be constructed or renovated and there will be construction of Nyika market stalls and upgrading of the Adam Parks in Duma location.

“We anticipate a good year because of the promising rains which could lead could to good harvests. People have better capacity to pay rates whenever the harvests are good,” said Chibhi.
