MASVINGO– City of Masvingo has appointed Danister Jori as the new substantive Finance Director with effect from January 3, 2023.

Jori had been the acting Finance Director since August 2021 following the resignation of Thandiwe Dube.

He joined Masvingo City Council in 2010 as a senior accountant and was promoted to deputy Finance Director in 2011. He held the position until his appointment as the Finance Director.

Jori told The Mirror that he is elated with the appointment, and promised to hold office with high levels of professionalism.

“Our success as council and as a City is hinged on the responsible participation of the stakeholders and l look forward to a cordial working relationship them,” said Jori.

Jori holds a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Economics from University of Zimbabwe (UZ) and a Master of Commerce (Applied Accounting) from Great Zimbabwe University.

He worked for Gweru City Council and and Go Beer Breweries before joining Masvingo City Council.

Jori represented Zimbabwe at the 2022 World Congress of Accounting in Mumbai, India.
