Chivhu taekwondo players shine at primus tournament

CHIKOMBA – Two players from Chivhu’s Muvsports Taekwondo Club were crowned best cadets in the boys and girls categories at a primus tournament held at Cherutombo High School in Marondera last Saturday.
Muvsports Club trainer and founder, Givemore Muvuti (43) confirmed the awards to The Mirror.
Ekranchimiyo Cee Muvuti (13), a national Zimbabwe Taekwondo team member won gold in his category and went on to be crowned the Best Male Cadet.
Another national team member, Constance Nhlizio, a Chivhu Goodhope Junior School pupil won gold and was crowned Best Female Cadet. Kourtney Mugari from the same school was crowned Best Female Kid.
Muvuti said the tournament is a yardstick for his club ahead of the tournament set for Swaziland in July.
“Our focus is now on winning medals in the Swaziland tournament set for July this year. We applaud Good Hope School authorities for supporting the Taekwondo school club.
“I am happy with the performance of my team. We learned a lot from this tournament. I am impressed with the level of the game my athletes are showing and l pray for their continued focus in this sport,” said Muvuti.
Other club members that scooped gold medals are Trust Mupereri and Norbert Naeimo. Tinashe Matarutse, Nakai Mangachena, Tariro Masunganye and Natasha Mukuruva scooped silver and bronze medals.
Chivhu Goodhope Junior players that scooped gold medals are Webster Taruvinga, Kourtney Mugari, Esther Magawa, Tinotenda Tsoka and Trevor Zhou. Comfort Dhikinya, Thabani Dzvairo, Livingstone Chinyama and Clyde Musonda, won silver medals in their categories.
