MASVINGO –  Mutsa Chibvure, a teacher marking Zimsec O Level exams from Masvingo Teachers’ College died allegedly due to high blood pressure while at work on Saturday.

Her colleagues at the marking centre who spoke on condition of anonymity complained against Zimsec for allegedly not giving the teacher adequate support for funeral arrangements.

They said that they had to contribute money to assist with the burial of their colleague. The markers also said that they wanted to send their representatives to the funeral.

Zimsec spokesperson Nicky Dlamini confirmed the death but dismissed allegations that her organisation did not support the teacher.

She said that the organisation paid money for the funeral and the regional director for Masvingo Sylvester Dandira had to take Chibvure to hospital while Zimsec director for Manicaland Robert Takundwa attended the funeral in Mutare.

Dhlamini also told The Mirror that the strike that erupted at the beginning of the marking had since been resolved and all teachers had gone back to work.

“We did all we could for the deceased marker but unfortunately she did not make it. Zimsec paid money for the funeral and our regional director for Manicaland attended the funeral. The markers have since resumed marking and everything is flowing smoothly,” said Dlamini.https://masvingomirror.com
