The gospel is a universal message,it is for all men inspite of their diverse cultural,traditional,educational and ethnical backgrounds…
It is for both the educated and uneducated
Small and great
Poor and rich..
It is good news to the hearer.
This is why Jesus was precise when he gave instructions to his disciples,
He commanded them to go and preach the gospel to everyone and everywhere…
The preaching of the gospel is a sacred work and an awesome responsibility which was committed to the body of Christ which we must all approach with fear and trembling because it involves the the eternal destiny of souls,hence we must preach the word in season and out of season(at every opportunity inspite of man’s reactions,comments, oppositions,resistance and responses)2 Tim 4:2-3
We preach the gospel whether man wants to hear it or not..
Woe unto us if we preach not the gospel(1 Cor 9:16-18)for necessity has been laid upon our shoulders.
Paul reiterated his point in his letter to the Romans,he thus wrote,
Rom 1:16
For I am not the least bit embarrassed about the gospel. I won’t shy away from it, because it is God’s power to save every person who believes: first the Jew, and then the non-Jew.
The gospel is not news that brings fear or condemnation it is good news that brings joy unspeakable.
The good news is called the gospel of peace(Eph 6:15, Rom 10:15)
The glorious gospel of Christ(2 Cor 4:4)
The everlasting gospel(Rev 14:6)
The gospel of the grace of God(Acts 20:24,32)
The gospel of our salvation(Eph 1:13)
It reveals the endless,unsearchable and inexhaustible riches of God’s grace in Christ..
Through the death,burial and resurrection of his Son God worked and completed our salvation,this he did to display the loviliness of his immutable character(Mercy and Grace)
Paul puts it this way,
Ephesians 5:5-7
That even though we were dead because of our sins,he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
Souls saved are the trophies of God’s grace..
This why we must be more bold and intentional in engaging ourselves into world evangelism,we were sent to the nations of the world to preach the gospel(Mark 16:15-16,Matthew 28:18-20,John 3:16,2 Cor 5:17-21)..
In his wisdom God has ordained the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe…
The apostle of grace wrote,
The Message that points to Christ on the Cross seems like sheer silliness to those hellbent on destruction, but for those on the way of salvation it makes perfect sense. This is the way God works, and most powerfully as it turns out. It’s written,
I’ll turn conventional wisdom on its head,
I’ll expose so-called experts as crackpots.
So where can you find someone truly wise, truly educated, truly intelligent in this day and age? Hasn’t God exposed it all as pretentious nonsense? Since the world in all its fancy wisdom never had a clue when it came to knowing God, God in his wisdom took delight in using what the world considered dumb—preaching, of all things!—to bring those who trust him into the way of salvation.
22-25 While Jews clamor for miraculous demonstrations and Greeks go in for philosophical wisdom, we go right on proclaiming Christ, the Crucified. Jews treat this like an anti-miracle—and Greeks pass it off as absurd. But to us who are personally called by God himself—both Jews and Greeks—Christ is God’s ultimate miracle and wisdom all wrapped up in one. Human wisdom is so tinny, so impotent, next to the seeming absurdity of God. Human strength can’t begin to compete with God’s “weakness.”
God’s wisdom is salvation
God’s wisdom is Christ
God’s wisdom is revealed in the gospel of Christ…
The weakness(the writer uses a figure of speech in explaining a great truth concerning our salvation here) of God (God becoming a man to take away our sins by the sacrifice of himself once and good for all time)is wisdom..
Heb 1:3,10:12)
This gospel is good news it makes us conscious of the sacrifice of Jesus,his work not our works
His faith not our faith
His love not our love
His efforts not our efforts.
The church has dwelt must on preaching sin instead of the gift of righteousness.
On what people must not do and must do to be blessed,accepted and loved by God instead of pointing them to the sacrifice of Jesus which is the basis of their blessings and acceptance…
Let’s wake up to our call and proclaim Christ and him crucified..
