MASVINGO – Buddying Masvingo Hip Hop artist, poet, producer and playwright Kriss Newton (21) is tomorrow (Saturday) launching his debut extended play (EP), Avatar State at a private listening session at a venue in the Ancient City.

Avatar State was due to be launched at the Charles Austin Theatre but was cancelled to mitigate the novel Covid-19.
The EP has tracks Hiroshoma, Man down, Avatar, Sango ft Soko Matemai, Sipambi, Wazzanin ft Shian, That’s faxx, Beyond earth, Greaze ft Abstrakt and Vincarnation.

Newton told The Mirror that the EP’s title is inspired by American animation Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Ep’s artwork imitates the animation’s main character Aang with a glowing head tattoo and eyes.

“The avatar is most powerful when chi is flowing in his body leading his eyes, head and body tattoos to glow. I was in my zone (beast mode) when I prepared this project. It is rap on steroids and a taste of what’s to follow,” said Newton.
Avatar State is available on https://www.flow.page/krissnewtone.

The EP alongside Jungle Loco’s album The First Book Jungle which Newton also features on are arguably some of the best music productions of 2020.

The young artist has released three singles prior to his EP, Rich dad Poor dad, Rapvolution and the EP title track Avatar.
“The EP was produced by Rayobeats, John The Producer, Cyp, Tyhill Beats and Pepzee. The album artwork was done by Motionless Studios. I am grateful to all the artists and producers I worked with for bringing their best. I also want to give a big shoutout to everyone who supported me on this project,” said Newton. https://masvingomirror.com
