MASVINGO – Ndarama High School in Masvingo is holding its first elective Annual General Meeting in three years amid a litany of complaints from parents under other stakeholders.

Ndarama has over the last decade dominated Masvingo Urban in terms of O and A level academic results and has always been in the top five in the whole Province.

At the centre of the complaints is the School Development chairman Ray Muzenda who has served for the last 15 years without a break. Parents are complaining that his long stay has obliterated good governance and transparency in the administration of the school.

There have also been questions on transactions including that at one time he was spotted driving a school truck.

Oddy Matongo, the school head told The Mirror in an interview that the AGM will take place on April 9, 2022.

“We are going to have a meeting on April 9, 2022. We last held the meeting in 2019 due to COVID 19. We are inviting all parents to come in their numbers to decide the future of their school” Matongo said.

Parents said the meeting was long overdue and complained that there have been no public reports on income and expenditure since 2020.

“We don’t know why the meeting was not being held since 2019. They are hiding behind lockdown restrictions but we know that a lot of murky deals were being done without anyone asking us,” said a disgruntled parent who preferred anonymity.

Matongo said parents have to come to the school and make their contributions.

“Parents have to attend the meeting to get clarification pertaining to issues they are raising.” https://masvingomirror.com/
