MBERENGWA– Mberengwa Soccer Academy FC (MBESA) will host its end of year awards and fundraising ceremony this Saturday at the Mberengwa Education Hall. MBESA Founding Director Neviel Zunde Manonose has confirmed the development to The Mirror.

“As the season came to an end we thought it’s necessary to hold our end of year awards to appreciate the best performing players. We will also be fundraising as we prepare for next season. We currently do not have sponsorship so the only way forward is to come up with innovative ways of raising money to realise our dream.

“The event will be held at Mberengwa education hall on November 19, 2022 and we are inviting everyone to come. We have a deep understanding of where we are going. We joined the Zimbabwe Football association (ZIFA) Midlands Province Division 2 league with the main objective of giving our players a taste of professional football and instilling a spirit of competition.

“The league has 12 teams spread across many parts of Midlands Province. We played the league with all our hearts and sometimes we struggled to raise travelling fees as well as referee fees. Week in and week out we had to fork out money to make this dream a reality. We faced so many challenges and many of them were financial but we managed to finish the league on fourth position,” said Manonose.

He went on to say their goal is to assist the community as well as to give youths a chance to do something with their talents and make Mberengwa a better place for talented young footballers.

Mononose further gave a heartrending chronicle of the club’s footballing journey throughout the year saying at times they were forced give away points after failing to attend games because of financial constraints.

He however, thanked individuals who immensely supported us throughout the season, advisers and board members.
