Gutu RDC $844m budget approved

MASVINGO – The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing July Moyo has approved Gutu Rural District Council (RDC)’s $844 million budget for 2022, The Mirror has been told.

The budget increased by 213% from $396 million in 2021.

Gutu RDC Chief Executive Officer Alexandra Mtembwa confirmed the budget to The Mirror.

“I am glad to announce that our $844, 386, 553 budget for 2022 has been approved. We appreciate the quick approval of the budget since this enables to immediately embark on our planned project and complete them as per schedule.

Some key projects include rehabilitation of road networks, construction of classroom blocks, clinics and mothers’ shelters across the district,” said Mtembwa.

Gutu RDC has one of the lowest budgets in the province with most local authorities looking at budgets of above $1 billion.

Meanwhile Gutu RDC has in the 2021 budget acquired two graders, completed five clinics at Muchekayaora in Ward 15, Makumbe in Ward 8, Ndawi in Ward 31, Mushayavanhu in Ward 35 and Makwirivindi in Ward 23.
