HARARE – President Mnangagwa has withdrawn two offer letters issued in Chiredzi by the Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira that would have seen 2 500 families being evicted from Lot 16 Nuanetsi Ranch in Chiredzi.

Mnangagwa was alerted to the issue and the concomitant humanitarian crisis it paused by the new Zanu PF chairman for Masvingo Rabson Mavhenyengwa and a representative of war veterans in Chiredzi and he acted at once by summoning the parties to Harare on Tuesday last week.

Mavhenyengwa got the case from Zanu PF Chiredzi District Coordinating Committee (DDC) which in turn had received a petition from the affected Chihungume villagers.

The offer letters were issued on September 21, 2021.

The companies that were offered the 5 600h land are Precab Investments and Red Oak Corporation and The Mirror has gathered that they both have the same people as board members. Sources said that the Ministry of Land gave its green light to the deal after it was proffered that the companies either had a link to Mnangagwa or the President was part of them.

Sources told The Mirror that Mnangagwa distanced himself from the companies during the meeting and revoked the offer letters.

Presidential Spokesperson, George Charamba said he was in Mozambique when The Mirror called him for a comment.

Calls to Chadzamira went unanswered.

Mavhenyengwa confirmed the State House meeting but declined to comment on the matter.

“The President did not waste time after hearing the case and invited Chadzamira and others to State house. I will give you finer details after a meeting we are going to hold very soon,” said Mukanya.

Sources told the Mirror that some delegates who attended the meeting are Chiredzi West MP Farai Musikavanhu, Chiredzi North MP Roy Bila, PCC chairperson for Masvingo Rabson Mavhenyengwa, Minister of State Ezra Chadzamira, and a war veteran, Killer Mukanya.

Masvingo Province is currently littered with land scams that threaten to boil over. Some of the cases involving top Government officials are before the courts although the charges have not been made public.https://masvingomirror.com
