Zvishavane serial housebreakers nabbed

ZVISHAVANE- A team from Criminal lnvestigations Department (CID) in Zvishavane has arrested two suspects linked to a series of housebreaking and theft.
Acting Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer Detective Assistant lnspector Rachel Muteweri confirmed the arrest of Talent Mutangi (19) and Virginia Sibanda (37) who are now helping the police in clearing nine other cases.
lnvestigations have unearthed that the duo had committed eight similar offences in Zvishavane and, property worth USD $2 700 was recovered following the arrest of the two.
According to Muteweri during the period extending from December 5, 2022 to January 5, 2023, the two and their accomplices, Joe Sibanda and Itai Sibanda, who are still at large, busines premises in Zvishavane town. They would break into the shops before stealing groceries, clothes, and other valuables.
In one incident that occurred on January 2, 2023, the suspects broke into a shop and got away with an assortment of goods valued at US$805. They ran out of luck on January 5, 2023 when detectives got information they had broken and into another shop and swiftly reacted to the information leading to the arrest of the two while their accomplices escaped.
In a statement Muteweri said they are still seeking information that will lead to the arrest of the other accused persons.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to thank members the public for supplying credible information that led to the arrest of the accused persons.
“Meanwhile, we are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Joe Sibanda and Itai Sibanda. The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to urge members of the public to reinforce security measures at their business and residential premises to avoid falling prey to criminals,” read the statement.
