ZVISHAVANE – A new beauty pageant to be held at Pote Hill Hotel on March 4, 2023 will see the winner walking away with US$1 000.
This was confirmed by Providence Musariri, the chairperson of the pageant known as the Miss Lioness Empowerment Organisation (LEO) in an interview with The Mirror.
She added that the pageant was inspired by the works of First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa in empowering women.
The pageant will have 25 participants and three will get prize money with the queen receiving US$1 000, first runner-up US$500 and second runner-up getting US$250 and the rest will get hampers.
“This pageant is mainly to uplift all the lionesses out there by eradicating all the social restrictions set for females and to nurture young girls to be bold and confident. It is not just a pageant where models walk down the ramp but one to instill confidence.
“Girls from different sectors including mining, education, agricultural, health and others, also girls from rural areas are being invited through the visits we have been doing in the rural areas,” she said.
