Zvishavane man jailed for stealing ZESA iron bars

ZVISHAVANE – A 26-year-old Zvishavane man who stole 150 kilograms of iron angle bars from Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has been sentenced to three months in prison.

Tikomborerei Zhou of E9 Maglass Zvishavane was convicted on his own plea of guilty for contravening the Electricity Act when he appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Evia Matura.

Owen Munhudangwa represented Zesa.

Prosecutor Tumelo Hindoga said on May 1, 2022, Zhou stole 150kg of angle iron bars from ZETDC Zvishavane warehouse. The accused was spotted by Munhudangwa a Loss Control Assistant at ZETDC as he pushed a loaded push cart.

He dumped the cart and ran away leaving the iron bars. 

Bryne Shava who owns the cart was identified leading to the arrest of the accused. The total value of stolen iron angle bars costs $ZWL114 900-00.
