ZVISHAVANE – Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa has sentenced Panashe Mombe (18) to 15 years in jail for raping his employer’s niece. He will effectively serve the entire sentence.
The incident happened sometime in July.
Circumstances are that Mombe was home with his employer when the minor (name withheld) came from school.
The minor’s mother had left her in the care of her brother as she was attending to some business outside the village.
Mombe called the minor to his room and began showing her some videos on his mobile phone.
He then raped her after showing her the videos and threatened her against disclosing the matter to anyone.
The minor narrated the incident to her mother after several days when she told her that she wanted to attend a funeral in a neighbouring village and she would be staying at her uncle’s place.
The matter was reported to the Police and the minor was examined at Zvishavane District Hospital.
