ZVISHAVANE – Zvishavane Town Council has procured two refuse trucks, constructed a garden flat in Mandava and rehabilitated its long distance bus terminus using devolution and own funds. The projects and equipment were commissioned by Midlands Minister of State Owen Ncube last Friday.

Zvishavane Town Secretary Allan Chaparadza said they used devolution funds and own resources to complete the projects. He said their thrust is to attain smart town status by 2030. “We used devolution funds to procure one truck and we acquired the second one using council’s internal funds.

The fleet is already collecting garbage and we want to have a clean town. “We also constructed a second block of flats in Mandava for ZWL$124,812,389.00 which is approximately US$ 66 000. The Kandodo bus terminus along Bulawayo road was upgraded and there is now a 21 vendor bay at the terminus,” he said.

Ncube commended the local authority for timeously completing its projects. “I commissioned a fleet of vehicles here 53 days ago and today I am back to commission more equipment and projects. This shows that you are working tirelessly. Keep up the good work to archive smart town status by 2030,” said Ncube.
