Zvish man loses vehicle to armed robbers

ZVISHAVANE – A Zvishavane taxi driver is admitted at the local district hospital after he was assaulted by two unidentified armed robbers who robbed him of his silver Toyota Fun Cargo registration number AEH 1315 and US$40 last Tuesday.
John Mlambo (23) of Murambidzwa Village under Chief Masunda in Zvishavane was robbed at Gwemvurachena turn-off along Zvishavane- Rutenga road around 8 pm.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Mirror.
His said the assailants pelted Mlambo with stones all over the body and left him nursing two deep cuts in the head and a swollen face.
“We are appealing for information that may lead to the recovery of the stolen silver Toyota Fun-cargo with registration number AEH 1315 and possible arrest of suspects in the matter. The total value lost is US$2 590,” he said.
Circumstances are that Mlambo was at Chiraya Business Centre, Zvishavane when the two men approached him. The agreed to hire his taxi to Samanye Mine for US$15.
The duo gave him the US$15 before they took off. One of the two requested Mlambo to pull over upon reaching Gwemvurachena turn-off so that he could relieve himself.
The other suspect who remained in the vehicle then grabbed Mlambo by the neck and blindfolded him. They went on to tie his hands and legs using shoe laces. The duo then hit him in the head using stones before taking US$40 from his pockets and an Itel mobile phone.
Mlambo was left by the roadside while the assailants drove towards Rutenga. He was rushed to Zvishavane District Hospital by well-wishers. Mlambo suffered two deep cuts on the head and a swollen face.
