Zviripi installed headman Ndahwi

GUTU – A new headman Ndahwi of Gutu was installed by Chief Gutu last week.
The new headman installed after a vacancy that had remained since 2014 is Teckson Zviripi.
The installation ceremony was attended by several headmen under the Gutu chieftainship namely Gadzingo, Nerupiri, Mataruse, Makumbe, Maburutse and Jinjika.
Chief Serima and several Government officials including Gutu District Development Coordinator Chiedza Tafirei who co-officiated over the ceremony were also in attendance.
Reading a speech on behalf of the Minister of Local Government and Public Works Tafirei said the Ndahwi headmanship started in the 18th century after Chinomukutu who is now known as Gutu gave his second eldest son the headmanship.
Ndahwi governed land in the Chikwanda Tribal Trust Lands stretching from Popoteke River to the south and Zadzwa River to the north.
The headmanship is located in one of the most developed rural areas in Gutu district with 11 primary schools, four secondary schools and 11 business centres, said Tafirei.
Misheck Maravanyika, Chief Ndahwi’s son said he is happy at the installation of his father after years of uncertainty.
Ndahwi has five families that present members for headmanship and they are Tavatsvanga, Baye, Ushewokunze, Dengu and Chirambamuriwo.
Zviripi worked as a former salesman until he retired and became a successful farmer.
He is married to Ester Zviripi and has 15 children, 24 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He is an avid ZCC church goer.
