ZVISHAVANE -The Zimbabwe Republic Police ZRP Zvishavane were crowned champions of the Officer In Charge (OIC) Zvishavane Prisons sports tournament after winning four out of the seven disciplines that were held on Friday at ZRP Zvishavane sports grounds.

The sports gala was attended by ZRP Zvishavane District Chief Superintendent Martin Makusha who was the guest of honor, Officer in Charge Zvishavane Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) Superintendent Langton Rupapa and MSU Zvishavane Campus Director Professor Advice Viriri.

ZRP Zvishavane won the men’s soccer, Tsoro, Darts and women’s netball. The gala was held in preparation for the Officer Commanding Prisons in Midlands set to be held in Gweru. The  teams that were invited to take part in the gala included Midlands State University (MSU), Zvishavane Vocation Training Centre (VTC) and ZRP Zvishavane. 

The tournament kicked off with a match between Masturella and Lizards which are both prisoners teams. Masturella won the match one nil.

MSU won the students battle after they outplayed VTC in a match which they won by two goals to nil whilst the battle of the uniformed forces was won by the ZRP which hammered the hapless Prisons team four goals to one. The Police team went on to win on penalties after playing to a goalless draw in regulation time with MSU.

On the other hand the ZRP Zvishavane netball team was untouchable as they outclassed all their opponents beating MSU 22-14, VTC 21-18 and Prisons 11-10 as they finished the tournament unbeaten.

Meanwhile Prisons won the men’s volleyball after defeating MSU by two sets to nil. The shock of the day came during the tug of war contest which was won by VTC after defeating Prisons by two sets to one.https://masvingomirror.com/
