ZOU partners Auxillia Mnangagwa on women programmes

MASVINGO AGRIC SHOW – The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) has partnered the First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa in a number of short courses offered to women.

ZOU which is probably the most popular university in Zimbabwe for post graduate programmes and distance education has also introduced two Masters’ programmes, the regional director for Masvingo in charge of the Faculty of Education, Prof Paul Mupa has said.

The Masters in Inclusive education was introduced to rope in people with disabilities in development initiatives.

Speaking to The Mirror at Masvingo Agricultural Show, Prof Mupa said the masters programmes are in Development Studies and in Inclusive Education which the University considers key areas in the development of the country.

ZOU together with The Angel of Hope which is chaired by the First Lady says the aim of the short courses is to curb illiteracy and equip women with life skills.

The courses include nurse aid, sign language, food and nutrition as well as tailoring courses. Some of the courses are 

Prof Mupa also said that The Mirror that the University is making strides to implement education 5.0.

ZOU is probably the cheapest University in the country offering undergraduate programs from as little as ZWL$44 000.

“The masters programs will equip students with skills that will bring sustainable development to our country. We are making efforts to include people with disabilities so that they can live better lives”

“We remain the cheapest University, offering Open and distance learning which allows people to study while working,” said Mupa.
