ZINWA wins Best Public Service Sector Award

MUTARE – Water management parastatal, Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) is the Best Public sector service provider in the Eastern region after winning the top prize at the Eastern Region Megafest Awards on Friday night.
Zupco came second in the category while Rural Electrification Agency (REA) came third. The awards were held at Golden Peacock Hotel in Mutare.
Save Catchment is the section that won the award for Zinwa.
The judges took note of Save Catchment’s ability to complete two of some of the most important dams in the area. Save Catchment saw the completion and commissioning of the 50million cubic metres Marovanyati Dam in Buhera and Muchekeramwa Dam in Marondera with a capacity of 75million cubic metres.
The Catchment is also in the process of resuscitating a number of irrigation schemes and rehabilitation water treatment works in Nyanga and other areas.
“Despite the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Save Catchment has been consistent in their service delivery and meeting targets therefore the adjudicating committee did not hesitate to honour their work,” reads part of the citation.
The award was received by Save Catchment manager, Tendai Muyambo, accounting officer, Precious Mlambo, public relations officer, Priscilla Mesa and acting hydrologist, Jepson Masimba.
The award automatically qualifies them for the national finals to be held in June in Harare on a date and venue to be advised.
The occasion was also graced by Mutare Mayor, Blessing Tandi and several councillors from the City.
