Zimbabwe joins International Anti Corruption day 2022 commemorations

MASVINGO- Zimbabwe joined the world in the commentation of the International Anti Corruption day 2022 on Friday, December 9 2022 held at the Civic centre in Masvingo.
The ceremony ran under the theme, “UNCAC at 20: Uniting the world against Corruption” and was graced by the Minister of State of Masvingo Province, Ezra Chadzamira who was the guest of honor.
Addressing the audience, Minister of State Ezra Chadzamira said the 2022 International Anti Corruption day seeks to highlight the crucial link between anti corruption and peace, security and development and he highlighted the importance of having a role to play in the fight against corruption.
“The theme of this year’s commemorations resonates well with his Excellency President of the republic of Zimbabwe, Dr Emerson D. Mnangagwa’s repeated calls for unity of purpose amongst all the citizens in our country, as we celebrate this important day, l will call upon everyone to assume a role in uniting the country against Corruption” Chadzamira said.
Vive Chairperson Murapa sopke on the impact of corruption on the livelihoods of the general citizen and the country.
“Zimbabwe alone is estimated by the Reserve bank of Zimbabwe that we are losing USD1,8 billion every year due to corruption and this leaves the government with little or no resources to fulfill it’s obligations to it’s citizens” Murapa said
The most important activity of the day was the signing of the National Integrity against corruption. Led by Chadzamira representing Masvingo Province , heads of formalities and departments and other special guests signed the national Integrity in a bid to rid of the corruption menace in Masvingo.
