KWEKWE – Zibagwe Rural District Council (RDC) is financially struggling but it is owed more than $300 million by its various debtors.
The local authority’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Farai Machaya said this during a full council meeting held last week adding that this was negatively affecting service delivery.
“Our debtors are failing to meet their obligations and there is an ongoing engagement for them to make payment plans,” he said.
Machaya said Jena Mine owes US$103 850, giant fertilizer manufacturing company, Sable Chemicals owes the local authority about ZWL$10 million while.
The meeting also heard Zibagwe RDC has offered land to the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) to start a goat breeding project.
