ZHOCD holds social accountability training workshop

Masvingo-The Zimbabwe Heads of Christian denomination (ZHOCD) held a two day training workshop on social accountability for its members who will train stakeholders from the community.

The workshop ran from Thursday-Friday at Chevron, a Regency Group hotel and was attended by stakeholders including pastors and the Zimbabwe Republic Police
Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) Masvingo Provincial coordinator, Tawanda Mafuta said the project is titled; Strengthening the role of the church in promoting transparency and accountability within devolution as Zimbabwe heads of Christian denomination in partnership with Trocaire with support from European European Union.

The objectives of the training workshop were to enhance the capacity of the church in influencing results based dialogues between local communities and duty bearers towards improved implementation of Government devolution and capacitation of target groups so that they can cascade information and administrate social accountability tools in their communities.

“These trainers will be training district patrons next month for the same purpose and this is where the main social accountability will be implemented.
“After social accountability has been implemented in the community, we are expecting to have more engagements with duty bearers, local authorities and community leaders to represent the findings from the social accountability project and to probe possible solutions to them hence building a community where everyone is taking part in development processes in the community,” Mafuta said
