CHIREDZI –Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) women’s wing on Wednesday last week donated an assortment of detergents and fruits to staff and patients at Chiredzi District Hospital. 
Speaking after the donation, ZCC Chiredzi vice-chairperson Thandiwe Sozayaphi said the donation complements Government’s efforts to have a clean and safe hospital. Sozayaphi further said they decided to donate detergents because the hospital is struggling to get them and has been operating with limited resources for some time.
“It is our yearly tradition as ZCC women to help the community. This year we donated detergents to this hospital to complement Government’s efforts to have a clean, habitable and safe hospital,” said Sozayaphi.

The women were from 11 mainline churches in Chiredzi that include Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, United Methodist, Church of Christ, United Church of Christ, Evangelical Lutheran Church, Baptist, United Baptist, Roman Catholic, and Dutch Reformed Church and others.
 Chiredzi District Hospital Matron, Teukai Badza, who received the donations hailed ZCC for the kind gesture and said it would go a long way in improving sanity at the hospital.
“We are humbled by your kind gesture. The donations will go a long way in improving cleanliness and safety at the hospital.

“Sometimes the hospital runs out of detergents, so if we have people like you- our hospital will be the best. Thank you so much for the kind gesture,” said Badza.
One of the admitted patients, Marita Chirhilele said she was happy to receive fruits from ZCC.
 “I am happy with this kind gesture. It is rare nowadays to get something for free from someone that you do not know. I have been admitted to this hospital before, but I never experienced such a kind gesture,” said Chirhilele.

The ZCC women toured the hospital facilities after the donation. 
The donation included 10litres toilet cleaner, 6×750ml Harpic, 3×750ml Handy Andy, 28×2l Dishwasher, 5×1litre dishwasher, 6×750mls dishwasher, 4×500mls dishwasher,33×750mls Domestos,124 rolls of Tissues and fruits for admitted patients. In 2019 ZCC donated linen sheets to the recovery and Children’s wards.https://masvingomirror.com
