MASVINGO-Ward 10 councillor in Masvingo urban, Sengerai Manyanga, has disputed that Zanu PF uses Charles Austin Theatre for free and produced receipts showing that he paid US$20 on January 18, 2023 for the use of the theatre.
He said The Mirror misquoted him when he addressed a Zanu PF meeting recently. Manyanga showed The Mirror receipts which showed that that the party paid for the use of the theatre .
“Contrary to Press reports, Zanu PF does not use Charles Austin Theater for free. The party pays for the use of the facility like any other organisation,” Manyanga has said,
“I paid $20 on January 18, 2023 for the use of the theatre as you can see I have the receipts. So, I don’t know where this is coming from. As Zanu PF we contact our business like any other law-abiding citizen and we pay where we are supposed to pay.
“Taking things from people without paying is against the party policy so, as an individual I will never do such a thing because that would damage my reputation as a public servant, businessman and Zanu PF provincial youth league member,” said Manyanga.
This was after an outcry from residents associations that Zanu PF and councillor Manyanga must stop abusing council facilities after he allegedly claimed that Zanu PF uses the theatre for free while addressing For ED affiliates.
