MASVINGO–Two Zanu PF aspiring candidates have partnered Chivi Rural District Council (RDC) in rehabilitating the 15km road network at Chivi Growth Point.
Chivi Central constituency candidate Exevia Maoneke and Ward 30 candidate Stoneshed Chikambure have donated 200 litres of diesel for the rehabilitation of the road network.
Chivi RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tariro Matavire said the two candidates have availed 200 litres of diesel to council for the project.
“We are grateful to them for the pledge which they have fulfilled. They have donated 200 litres of diesel for the rehabilitation of the 15km road network at the growth point. The project began on Monday and we expect it to be completed in two weeks. We urge individuals and companies in Chivi to partner us in road rehabilitation and other projects as we develop the district,” said Matavire
Chikambure who is popularly known as Huruyadzo said the rehabilitation was necessitated by the state of bad roads in the district.
He also said that he has drilled two boreholes in the Ward 30 while Maoneke is drilling boreholes in all the 10 wards in Chivi Central.
“We are rehabilitating roads at Chivi Growth. The roads are in a bad state and it is our responsibility to assist council in developmental projects. We are also drilling boreholes since Chivi has water woes. Mothers and girls should not walk long distances to fetch water,” said Chikambure.
Maoneke said the projects are meant to improve the livelihood of Chivi Central residents.
“These projects are community betterment. We have been carrying out such projects for years. In the past we have donated to schools, sponsored local football teams and irrigation schemes. We are building our country by developing our constituency,” he said.
