MASVINGO – Zaka Rural District Council (RDC) has begun installing solar powered street lights around Jerera Growth Point for a $1.1m budget as it strives towards attaining a town status.

A total of 60 solar lights will be installed around the growth point over a 1.8km radius. The project is funded by Zinara disbursements.

Zaka RDC CEO David Majaura told The Mirror that 16 solar street lights have been installed over a 400m stretch of road around the growth point.

“We have installed 16 solar powered street lights over 400m of the targeted 1.8km. Our intention is to cover the whole Jerera loop road as we are developing into a town,” said Majaura.

Majaura also said that council has plans to resurface Jerera-Musiso Road, gravelling of Ndanga, Chivamba and Gumbo loop Roads, completion of Gumbire Primary school, Benzi clinic and building of Mudzara Secondary school and Chauruka Clinic in its pursuit of a town status. https://masvingomirror.com
