Masvingo City Council has postponed the construction of a US$6 million Chimusana Bridge across Mucheke River for many years. The consequences have been dire as many motorists have lost life after their vehicles were swept off the flat bridge by the flooded river. Above a City council truck got stuck today after heavy rains pounded the City since last night.
