MASVINGO – The winter season and its cold weather are around the corner, Met head of Public Weather Service James Ngoma has said.
He said that the winter season kicks off Mid next month and warned that there however could be some very cold days before May 15.

The Met Department are currently working on a project to predict the lowest temperatures expected this year.
“Some places are low lying with some on higher grounds and the temperatures will therefore differ as they are not generic. We are working on a pilot to determine the lowest possible temperatures that will be recorded this season.

“The winter season is similar to the rain season and a specific forecast for each area is required for us to determine the temperatures and possibly how long the season is going to last,” said Ngoma.

The winter season usually stretches from May-August.
