GWERU – What’s in a name?
Some say a name, good or bad can determine one’s fate and what with a man called Bloodwell being stabbed to death merely over a spilled drink.
Many found Bloodwell Musiiwa’s name loaded when he was stabbed to death.
State papers in the hands of The Mirror show that on May 2, 2017 Bloodwell Musiiwa (28) of Mukukwami Village in Mberengwa was drinking beer with friends at Makomo Bottle Store, Bvute Business Centre. He had a misunderstanding with Morgan Nsingo of Nkani Village under Chief Bvute after the latter spilled a soft drink on his sister.
Nsingo confronted Musiiwa and other patrons who were at the bar and became violent. He fought a number of people before leaving the place. The following morning Nsingo went to Musiiwa’s homestead armed with a knife.
He woke up Musiiwa accusing him of attacking him the previous night. He drew out the okapi knife and stabbed Musiiwa once on the chest and left him lying on the ground screaming for help.
Musiiwa was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Nsingo appeared in court on Wednesday and was sentenced to 30 years in jail by High Court judge Evangelista Kabasa who was on circuit at the Gweru Magistrate Court
