MASVINGO- What a week it has been for Masvingo born and bred poet Ngonidzashe ‘Mambo Guramatunhu’ Paradzahova after scooping two national poetry awards in a week.
Guramatunhu who is now plying his trade in Harare won the prestigious outstanding poet of the year at Poetry Red Carpet in Harare and went on to scoop the coveted outstanding poet of the year at the National Arts and Merit Awards (NAMA) in Bulawayo.
He told The Mirror in an interview that he is humbled, and motivated by the recognition.
“I am humbled to receive the outstanding poet of the year twice in a in a row. It shows growth in the industry and that the audience like the product that I am offering. All this would not have been possible without the support that I am receiving from my fans. I am grateful. I was nominated in the same category at last year’s NAMA but did not win,” he said.
The affable wordsmith launched his second 10 track poetry album titled Zvombo last year. The album tackles drug abuse, Gender Based Violence (GBV), depression, and anxiety that are affecting youth.
He applauded Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira, Masvingo City Council, Great Zimbabwe University, and Masvingo business community for supporting him in his acceptance speech at the NAMAs.
