GWERU-Vungu Rural District Council (RDC) has received ZWL$72.7 million of its allocated ZWL$1.3 billion, which translates to 5.59 per cent of its 2023 devolution fund.
The local authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alex Magura confirmed the development to The Mirror.
“We have received ZWL$72.7 m from the treasury as devolution funds this year. We were allocated ZWL$1.3 billion by the Central Government. The total amount received has been channelled towards the Impala clinic in Ward 1.
“The clinic is now 95 per cent complete, and we are in the process of installing solar equipment. We appeal to Government to disburse the devolution allocations in time so we can finish targeted projects,” he said.
Impala Clinic, which has a maternity wing, is expected to serve more than 4 000 villagers travelling over 30 km to access medical services at Madingane Clinic.
Vungu RDC 2023 budget is ZWL $9.2 billion.
Magura said they intend to finish outstanding 2022 projects. The projects include the construction of two classroom blocks and teacher cottages at Lukuluba Primary School and a new clinic in Ward 8.
