Vungu $9.2 billion budget approved

GWERU – The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works had approved Vungu Rural District Council (RDC) ‘s ZWL $9.2 billion budget.
Vungu RDC Chief Executive Officer Alex Magura confirmed the news to The Mirror.
“I am glad to inform the public that our 2023 annual budget has been approved. Our total budget for this fiscal year is ZWL$ 9.2 billion.
” Last year our budget was pegged at $1.3 billion and as council, we have carried over to 2022 uncomplicated projects for completion and these projects include the construction of Impala Clinic, construction of two classroom blocks and teachers cottages at Lukuluba Primary School and a new clinic in Ward 18.
“In terms of water and sanitation, we want to drill six more boreholes in different wards and commence the rehabilitation of Rubi piped water schemes in Ward 19,” he said.
Magura said the local authority was allocated a total disbursement of ZWL$ 1 366 272 700. 00 as devolution funds while ZWL $127 771 624.7 was allocated for road maintenance through Zinara funds.
He applauded Government for timely budget approval which he said would allow the local authority to meet projects deadlines.
“We want to thank the Ministry for this timely budget approval which hrlps us in completing targeted annual projects, however, we are calling for timely disbursements of government grants so that we can finish the targeted projects in time,” he said.
He said the construction of Impala Clinic is expected to serve more than 4000 villagers who are currently traveling for more than 30 km to get medical assistance at Madingane Clinic.
