Vision Academy tops private colleges athletics



MASVINGO- Vision Academy College is the toast of this year’s Masvingo District Independent College athletic competitions held at Mucheke Stadium last Friday.
Vision amassed 25 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze medals to clinch first place and will have the majority of athletes who will represent the district at the provincial level competitions.
Vision Academy Principal and Head in Charge of the competition Reuben Mapfumo told The Mirror that the competitions were held after a three year hiatus owing to COVID-19.
“The college competitions were a success after a three-year long break due to COVID-19 rules. It was exciting as most colleges turned up and learners displayed their skills in track and field events.
“Discipline was maintained and we look forward to Provincial Independent College competitions,” said Mapfumo.
Eight colleges participated in the competitions and Sunrise College came second with 12 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.
Members In Christ College came third with 11 gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals. Shingirirai College was on fourth position with nine gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals.
Shining Star College came fifth with nine gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze medals with Vulturevale College on sixth position after amassing five gold, six silver and eight bronze medals.
Able God College came seventh with five gold, four silver and four bronze medals.Wisedale Academy came last with five gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
