ZAKA-Valley Seeds Country Manager Themba Nkatazo left Zaka villagers in a frenzy after he arrived at a field day at Consen Mutasa’s homestead in Masikati Village under chief Ndanga in Zaka on Thursday last week in a helicopter.
Valley Seeds is the main supplier of inputs to farmers under the Government funded Pfumvudza programme.
Valley Seeds is the producer of Pioneer and Pannar brands of maize seeds and also produces seeds for cowpeas, sorghum, tomatoes and sunflower.

Nkatazo was in the company of the company’s Commercial Director Tichaona Maponga who said the company supports the pfumvudza programme. He said that Nkatazo personally came to congratulate Mutasa for being adjudged the overall winner.
He said his company is encouraging farmers to join the pfumvudza programme as it produces high yields on a small plot.
Maponga said his organisation will support Government’s farmer field school programme where farmers will get free education on the best farming practices that suit global climate change.

“We encourage farmers to join the pfumvudza programme as it can give high yields on a small plot. As a company we feel pfumvudza is best for farmers that is why the CEO had to come personally” said Maponga.
Professor Obert Jiri who was the guest of honour at the event joked that government should make a plan and give directors like him a helicopter to match Nkatazo’s status.
