US$10 000 gift for Manyuchi

MASVINGO – President Emerson Mnangagwa has gifted Charles Manyuchi with US$10 000 for winning three world boxing titles last week. Manyuchi beat Ugandan Mohammed Sebyala in a unification match to retain his World Boxing Federation (WBF) title.

He also won two newly inaugurated belts the WABA World supreme and the WPBF title. The match was held at Flamboyant hotel last week Saturday. He was presented with his gift at the State House yesterday by the President. In return, Manyuchi gave the President a specially branded boxing belt and a pair of gloves dedicated to the country’s fight against Covid19.

Manyuchi thanked the President for recognizing his work and ap- preciating the Championship. He said he was going to do more to empower the youths in boxing. “It is exciting to see that the Presi- dent appreciates my work. I would like to thank the nation for sup- porting me. I will put this token to good use for the benefit of boxing in this country,” said Manyuchi.

Also, on the entourage was acting director of Sports Commission Ignatius Vambe, Lawrence Zim- budzana of Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board, Manyuchi’s manager Peter Hlohla and Tafadzwa Chibaya of Charles Manyuchi boxing acad- emy. Charles Manyuchi last week de- feated Muhammad Sebyala from Uganda by a unanimous decision of 116-110; 117-109; 117-109 at Flamboyant Hotel in Masvingo.

The night saw nine of the bouts, five local and four international being cancelled in the last min- ute by the Ministry of health and childcare. https://masvingomirror.com
