MASVINGO-This year’s Independence celebrations in Masvingo will be capped with a clash between Masvingo United FC and the best ZIFA Northern Region Division 1 outfit Simba Bhora FC for the Independence cup.

The match will be played at Mucheke Stadium after the Independence commemorations and kickoff is 3pm.
Una Una spokesperson and one of the game organizers Moses Mavusa confirmed the development to The Mirror.

He also added that entrance into Mucheke Stadium is free of charge.

The match is sponsored by youthful businessman and aspiring Zanu MP for Masvingo Urban, James Pande who has promised to pay the match winners US$1 500. He also bought kits for the match for both teams, including medals and a trophy. He will facilitate Simba Bhora FC travel arrangements and lodgings. Simba Bhora sits on top of the ZIFA Northern Region Division 1 Log with 36 points from 16 games with Una Una sitting fourth on the Eastern Region Division 1 Log with 23 points from 12 games.

“We applaud organizers for affording us this chance to participate in such a prestigious tournament. The winning team will take the Independence trophy home and there will be tokens of appreciation awarded to both teams.

“Una Una supporters and football lovers in general should come and cheer the boys on,” said Mavhusa.
