MASVINGO –Masvingo United Football gaffer, Faustino ‘Hey Days’ Mugeji is blaming poor match handling by Maxwell Chikwayikwayi from Rusape, and his two assistants Caleb Dziro from Headlands and Kudakwashe Marange from Rusape after the team’s two nil defeat at the hands of Green Fuel FC.
Mugeji said his charges were exposed to crude tackles without the protection of the referee that saw goalkeeper Valentine Chibwanya and defender Admire Banda suffering career-threatening injuries during a crunching encounter played at Green Fuel sporting arena on Saturday last week.
“My players were not being protected and we lost two key players during the course of the game. I was forced to make substitutions that were not on my game plan. I think that kind of match handling should be condemned.

The referee from Manicaland was ignoring some nasty tackles and my players were no longer comfort on the ball. At first our goalkeeper was pushed and nothing was done and then our defender was hit on the knee-high by the opponent striker. The referee who was from Mutare decided to a blind eye of Green Fuel’s wrongs,” said Hey Days.

However, Wisdom Simba the Zifa Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) vice chairperson said he is yet to receive a report from the match commissioner. “I am haven’t received any report from the match commissioner yet. I have seen the report from the referee only. If Masvingo United has any complains about the way the game was handled they are free to launch their complaint,” said Simba.

The Green Fuel FC is on position one of the log standing with 38 points after having won 11 games, draws 5 games with no lose, whilst, Masvingo United slipped from position three to four with 28points, 8 wins, 4 draws and lost 4 games. https://masvingomirror.com
