BULAWAYO – The Law Society has deregistered Doreen Vundhla Phulu, wife of Sengezo Tshabangu appointed Senator Kacaca Phulu.
Law Society spokesperson Richard Chidza confirmed the deregistration in an exclusive interview with The Mirror.
Phulu is accused of prejudicing many clients of properties and money with value running into millions of US$.
“Please note that the Law Society of Zimbabwe early this year made an application for Ms Doreen Vundla-Phulu’s deregistration before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. The application was granted and she has since been deregistered,” said Chidza in a statement to The Mirror.
Vundhla who is married to Phulu who was appointed Senator by Tshabangu after the latter recalled the legitimately elected senators was a principal partner in Vundhla Phulu and Partners. She was engaged by clients for conveyancing and legal repfresentation.
Various clients complained to the Law Society that Phulu through forgery, misuse of money, negligence, misrepresentations and unauthorised discounts and payments in RTGS prejudiced clients.
Phulu did not bank money received from clients, did not keep proper accounting records and in one case would sell a client’s house to buyers resulting in a prejudice to the other.
