Masvingo – The bail ruling for a Czech Republic and a Ugandan tourist, Lucas Slavik and Tom Ssekamwa arrested in Masvingo on Friday has been postponed four times.
The ruling was supposed to be delivered yesterday but was postponed to this morning at 8.30. Lawyers were then told that the matter had been postponed to 2.30pm and now this has been pushed to 4.30pm. They are represented by Knowledge Mabvure of Chihambakwe Law Chambers.
In addition to alteration of their original charges, the two now face new charges of refusing to surrender their cell phone passwords to the Police. They vehemently refuted the allegations and told Magistrate Madzingo that the phones were open when Police confiscated them. Also confiscated are their laptops.
Slavik is charged with publishing falsehoods but Police allegedly failed to show the court any platform where he published content on Zimbabwe. Ssekamwe says his cellphone password is not an issue since he was only arrested for possessing a plastic penis. He however, said police had access to his phone.
