CHIREDZI – A parent who was too busy to fetch water for her three-year-old child is living to regret as the thirst toddler went out on her own and drowned in a well.
Panashe Chimbidzikai from Eaglemond Village 5, Triangle drowned last Monday in a well near where the parents were working in the field.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa confirmed the incident to The Mirror.
Sources told The Mirror that Panashe was in the fields with her parents Blessing Chouta (32) and Munyaradzi Chimbidzikai. The two were ploughing and the minor was sitting under a tree. She asked for water but her mother said she would fetch the water for her after finishing ploughing.
The couple missed their child when they finished their work. They searched all over and later found the child’s body floating in the well some 20 metres from where they were ploughing.
Postmortem was waved by Chiredzi Resident Magistrate Mutukwa. https://masvingomirror.com
