Tongogara RDC CEO suspended

Shurugwi – Tongogara Rural District Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Rufasha has been suspended for 90 days with effect from October 12, 2020.

The Mirror has a copy of the suspension letter signed by council chairman Tamiswa Njovhana and handed over to the CEO yesterday.

Njovhana said council has suspended the CEO to allow investigations into allegations of gross incompetence.

The suspension is to allow for investigations to take place against CEO. According to the letter the suspension is based on four issues which are alleged irregularities in the finance department, high number of car accidents at council and failure to implement recommendations, procurement of backhoe loader which was faulty and inconsistencies in the repossession of council residential stands.

As part of the suspension conditions, Rufasha is not allowed to enter council premises or phone council employees. He will however, get full benefits minus fuel and cell phone allowances.

“We are in the process of appointing an investigating authority that will start work in the next few days. We expect a clear and transparent outcome,” said Njovhana.
