CHIREDZI – Giant sugar-producing company Tongaat Hulett has made two senior appointments.
The appointments are Silvester Mangani, the new Chief Operations Officer. He replaces James Bowmaker, who left for Tongaat South Africa. His appointment is with effect from July 18, 2022.
The other appointment is Dr Darhlia Garwe, who becomes Corporate and Industry Affairs Executive replacing Adelaide Chikunguru who has since joined the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation as Chief Executive Officer. Garwe’s appointment is with effect from March 1, 2022
Both Bowmaker and Chikunguru left Tongaat last year.
Tongaat Hulett Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Aiden Mhere confirmed the appointments at a meeting held at Triangle Country Club on Thursday.
Mangani joins Tongaat from Olivine while Garwe joints from the Tobacco Research Board where they served as CEOs. Garwe sits on several boards of companies including Seedco.
“I want to let you know that we have replaced two of our executive members who left the company,” said Mhere.
Mangani pledged to work with small-scale farmers because he was briefed on their importance as stakeholders.
“I promise to work well with you. I was briefed that you are the important stakeholders in the sugar industry,” said Mangani.
