CHIREDZI-The Ministry of Health and Childcare has commissioned three clinics in Chiredzi North constituency.
Masvingo Provincial Medical Director (PMD), Dr Amadeus Shamu commissioned the clinics on Monday.
He was representing Deputy Minister, John Mangwiro. The clinics are Matedzi, Chikwirire and Crown Range in wards 23, 3 and 5 respectively.
Mangwiro applauded Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe (THZ), Chiredzi Rural District Council (RDC) and the community for working together. He also said that the establishment of the clinics will reduce morbidity and mortality as people in Crown Range were travelling close to 20 kilometres to the nearest clinics.
“The establishment of the clinic will reduce morbidity and mortality which was a result of delays in seeking health care due to distance as people of Crown Range had to travel more than 20km to seek medical services at the nearest health facility which would be a nightmare especially in times of emergencies like labour, delivery and bleeding among other emergencies,” he said.
He also said that nurses have been deployed to the clinics and they will begin serving patients on Monday.
THZ General Manager – Infrastructure and Support Services, Ushe Chinhuru said it is THZ’s mandate to upgrade its surrounding areas through its Social Economic Development (SED) program which sets aside funding to help communities every year.
“As THZ our mandate is to develop areas which surround us so we have the SED programme where we set aside funds every year and donate the funds towards development projects,” said Chinhuru.
