GWERU – Thornhill High School head Solomon Mukora Mazvazva is no more. He died at 6am today.His death enveloped Thornhill, one of biggest schools in the Midlands under a dark cloud as staff and students had just arrived for the third term.Mazvazva (44) died at at Gweru Provincial Hospital after a short illness. School SDC chairperson Tirivangani Chipondeni confirmed the tragic loss to The Mirror. “I can confirm the sad news of the death of the head. He died after a very short illness. He died today at around 6 am at Gweru Provincial Hospital after he was transferred from Claybank private hospital a few days ago,” he said.Born on February 2, 1980, Mazvazva enrolled at Mzilikazi High School in Bulawayo in 1999 for his Advanced Levels.He trained at Hillside Teacher’s College in the same town for his Education Diploma in 2003 and proceeded for a Bachelor of Educational Planning and Policy Studies degree with the Zimbabwe Open University in 2006.In 2009, Mazvazva enrolled at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) for his Bachelor of Education History for Secondary School Teaching .He headed Hebron High School in Mwenezi. After attaining the History degree, Mazvazva was employed as a part-time lecturer at the Midlands State University (MSU) where he lectured in the Department of Applied Education. He became head at Thornhill in 2017.
